Speakers Forum Series: TRIUMPH
On April 15, 2013, Jeff Bauman stood at the finish line of the Boston Marathon eagerly awaiting his girlfriend Erin, who was running to support a local charity. As he stood, he noticed a man drop a black backpack and moments later, the first of two explosions rocked Boylston Street. Jeff was gravely injured, losing both his legs along with other serious injuries. When the smoke cleared, a peace activist and spectator named Carlos Arrendondo, known as the man in the cowboy hat, lifted Jeff and got him to an ambulance. The photograph of Carlos with Jeff has become the iconic photo of the days tragedy. Jeff testified at the trial as an eye witness. Since that tragic day, Jeff remains a beacon of hope, strength and resilience. His sharing of his story will be sure to uplift and inspire.
