The facility serves over 4,500 students, faculty, staff, and community members on a weekly basis. Access is available, at no cost, to all Rensselaer students and employees between the ages of 14 and 21 with a valid Rensselaer ID.
The glass enclosed, three-story facility offers state-of-the-art equipment and a Certified Personal Trainer and Strength Coach to help you meet your strength and fitness needs.
Programs and Services
Each semester and during the summer, fitness classes are offered in the Mueller Center for students, faculty and staff. A small example of classes that have been offered in the past include Boxing, Pilates, Tai Chi, Turbo Kick and Yoga.
Fitness Plans and Equipment Tutorials
If you are interested in starting a fitness program but are unsure of how to use the equipment properly or you’re looking for a workout plan, you may schedule a meeting with our Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. While one-on-one workout sessions aren’t available, we do offer resources and information on how you can best utilize the Mueller Center to reach your fitness goals.
The Rensselaer Intramural Sports Program provides the opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to engage in individual and team activities at various skill levels. The program offers more than 26 sports, and tournaments, with more than 5,500 participants each year.
Many student clubs and organizations host activities and hold regular weekly practices in the multi-purpose rooms in the upper level of the Mueller Center.
The Mueller Center Gift
Rensselaer's Mueller Center was made possible by the multi-million dollar gift from Rensselaer Trustee Nancy Mueller to the Institute's unrestricted endowment. The gift was made in honor of her late husband Glenn M. Mueller, a former Trustee and graduate of the class of 1964. The Mueller Center is a longstanding tribute to Glenn Mueller's deep love for his alma mater and his commitment to Student Life at Rensselaer. "It is my hope that this center will serve to create balance among intellectual pursuit, social responsibility, physical health and emotional well-being," Nancy Mueller.
